Adult–gerontology primary care nurse practitioners are advanced practice nurses who promote wellness and prevent diseases among adults of all ages. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

RN preparation and a Master of Science in Nursing with advanced practice certification as an adult–gerontology primary care nurse practitioner are required. Certification is available through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and American Nurses Credentialing Center. Basic life support and advanced cardiac life support certifications are also necessary.
